People who want to seriously improve as a team will always try to play against people better than them. It shows where there weakness are and how they can improve. The system you propose would mean it wouldn't even be close. The lowest would always try to play way above their level and the actual high skilled players will only be annoyed they cant find good prac against teams of similar skill. If you were on a mdl team and open teams were lying about their skill level to scrim against you of course you would be annoyed and never use the platform.

Oh and btw I coach a MDL team so I believe I do know a bit about working and practicing with a team.
