Just learned my first song (singing and playing)

No need to be sorry about long reply! I prefer it over "Keep it up, dude!"

The basic chords I was talking about are E, D, A and their minor versions. This weekend if all goes well, I'd like to pick up C and G. I am following lessons from Justin Sandercoe. I keep going but I am slowly going crazy from hearing D :) So, I'd like to jump ahead a bit to scales and keep going with them chords, but also do something different at the same time.

I already followed your advice and got my hand-drawn fretboard in my notebook with all of individual notes written down and I will now do the memorizing part as another thing beside chords.

I have a few questions if you can be bothered :)

1) Everywhere I go, every website I browse - everyone keeps saying how important is to learn to transcribe. Do you practice this part of guitar playing, too? How do you do it if so?

2) How about gaining speed? :) When did you start to notice your strumming and also fretting of notes is getting faster? I'm a big man with big hands so far (I know I barely crossed the starting line) I didn't have any problems with stretching my hand for example it's super naturally easy for me to do D minor (not that it is hard or something) but I feel that these "stretchy" things are going to be okay for me, no matter what. But I am really struggling with strumming and especially fretting chords when I am doing those speed exercises. I am doing the 1 minute changes between chords exercise and my resulsts are.. I dunno, let's say dissapointing to myself. I can do, say, 35-40 changes per minute between 2 "easier" chords like A and E. And 25-30 chages per minute on "harder" chords like D minor and E. So my question here is, do you do this kinda stuff or something similar? And if so, did you do some special exercises to speed your chord progressions up?

Now, I'm sorry for a long loooong reply and I hope you can be bothered to answer my questions.
