I just lost 12 years

"I'm 8 years away from the halfway point in my life. "

And?

Did you think you had your life all planned out or something? Did no one tell you that life is unfair and decent people get clobbered with random stuff that they didn't deserve? Did you think you would escape the trappings of mortality and corporeal limitations?

Sorry you are feeling miserable. Really, very sorry. But all of this stress is going to throw your glucose out of whack an make you feel worse.

You are out of perspective at the moment. And that's all right. Hopefully, you will settle down and concentrate on learning how to manage your glucose as best you can -- hour to hour, day to day. Hopefully, you will find a source of affordable health care and medical supplies. And hopefully, you will learn to accept help and support and not feel like you have to bear the weight of the world on your shoulders.

I can't imagine why anyone would want a career based on arguments, but certainly there are some admirable reasons for practicing law. Might I remind you that one of the Supreme Court Justices has Type 1 diabetes, and has lived a lot longer than you? According to your "life expectancy calculations, she will croak next year. Maybe you are right, maybe you are really, really wrong. I think she is awesome, either way -- a genuine champion of justice.

You are a little different now -- though, in reality surrounded by millions of others in a similar situation. But you can turn this into a strength if you like. I hope you do. Here, have a peek -- some nice, simple words for you in her book for kids:
