This is the sentence that had me perma-banned. Not even joking. I was sitting at zero warning points, and when I sent an email to support to have it investigated, and asked them to read it within the context (Here’s the thread by the way, for anyone curious), I was issued the ban by Pann (Their community manager). Which is ridiculous to even have to ask them to investigate to begin with. Their policies seem to be to drive players away, by issuing warnings/suspensions for mundane posts (ex One and Two), by holding over your head that your money will go down the toilet if you reach a ban status on their warning point scale and lose your packages.
They knew we had an issue with the moderating team being biased (I cannot tell you how many emails I had sent to support), so their answer was to make them completely anonymous to the regular users. Absolutely genius. They initially played it off as it being a completely new mod team, which quieted down the roar, but then reneged when the anonymods started bragging about their status offsite and players found out they were the same old mods.
The guy who put the final nail in my coffin above (Alarien) is the same guy who suspended me twice before (cmurder), which had to get overturned by Pann through support emails for being out of line. If anyone has played any popular MMO game, I’m sure you know who Ebonlore is. Cmurder/Alarien was on a witch hunt (including baiting with his main and slamming warnings with his mod account) because he’s butthurt his integrity was put into question for being a part of Ebonlore. But if he likes you, he’ll issue warnings to everyone else, and let yours slide (including encourage it).
I asked several times, and they could not point to anything within the RoC that I had broken since my account was set to 0 WP. Gordon Walton stepped into the support email (Again, having to have the executive producer step in to clean up a kneejerk mess shouldn’t of had to happen to begin with). He offered to talk to me, but I was heated and felt there was nothing more I could add to the conversation on top of what I had already sent to support. I asked for a refund as I do not want my money funding any part of that terrible community management, but I wish the developers good luck. The mechanics and devs are solid, but when Pann steps in as being in charge of in-game GMs and carries with her the same ideals and management, the game won’t have anywhere close to the same atmosphere people are expecting.
I think people are brushing off the way the community/forums are handled at this stage way too much and just holding out for release, when they don’t realize that this is going to carry over into the game. If anyone from ACE or their mod team wants to come in and contest any of what I’ve said, I encourage it.
