Is it just me or do we lack adventure in our lives ?

I really don't mean this out of any sarcasm or spite, but if you feel that way after looking at things like r/oldschoolcool or youtube videos of a similar vibe (like many people do), remember that the cool things shown there is the best of the best that happened. There's very little to show all the boring, monotonous days cause people saved the camera for really special occasions.

Another thing is, smaller/more local things was often seen as bigger adventures than today. I remember reading an interview with an old guy about having bike vacations one or two states over back in the 1930s and he said it felt like going to another country feels today. Today, you see people going all over the world all the time, the next state doesn't seem like anything much with that frame of reference.

But that's not to say there aren't anything in the present day that can make you feel numb or lacking adventure. We're less "in the moment" due to phones, housing cost have risen dramatically making it harder and much less spontanious to move, stagnant wages since the 80s. Probably lots more that causes spontanity to be less possible.
