Just moved into a new lab space, and could use some advice: glassware storage- HALP

Depends on the size of your glassware. The really big pieces like 2L flasks and higher, I would recommend to store on open shelves (supported by cork rings for round flasks, turned neck sideways against dust or neck covered with Al foil.) It helps to have deep enough shelves, placed so that even a short person can reach them.

Smaller pieces - from 1L flasks down you can store in drawers, it is best to have deep drawers. If you are on a mall budget you can repurpose old filing cabinet for storing glassware, just take the railing out and put some cladding from paper towels or filterpaper in them.

The really awkwardly long and fragile pieces like condensers, chromatography columns etc you need to store somewhere inside the cabinet or high on the shelf where they will not be accidentally knocked down or roll off on their own.

Also, each person should have at least one but preferably two drawers of his "personal use" favorite stuff, the rest should be easily accessible and there should be clear rules about not putting wet or dirty or cracked glassware ever into a shared drawer.
