I just read that my ex therapist diagnosed me with dysthymia without speaking with me about it- sad and angry

I have multiple diagnoses in my chart, dysthymic disorder is not one of them. There was no reason for this to be the only diagnosis, one that is not even a thing anymore and isn't in my chart, to be sent to this new psychiatrist.

If that's the only reason it went that way for you then I'm glad you're getting the help you need regardless of a diagnosis but that is not my issue. A stranger is going to see that my only issue is low grade depression and treat me based on that, someone who is supposed to know my actual issues in order to prescribe the proper medication.

I need antipsychotics, not antidepressants. Antidepressants have never worked for me and I've tried multiple different kinds. I've also had one trigger a manic episode but my episodes aren't long enough to meet criteria for bipolar. Every psychiatrist that I've dealt with at this particular place only looks at the referral letters. I've never had one actually listen to anything I say because I couldn't possibly have any idea what's going on or what works for me. It's the only place my insurance will pay for tho. That's why it's so important to have a referral that matches my experience.
