I just really miss the days before Season Passes.

I'm 32. Modern gaming is absolute ass compared to the 90s. And its not just my rose colored goggles either.

Consoles then (SNES, Genesis, PS1) had a niche they filled. They didn't try to be gimped PCs dragging down PC gaming in order to run PC games. No they had their own exclusive games. Made specifically for console.

PC games themselves were much more free. Any game that came with a map editor had a near-endless source of user made maps online to download. Most of which sucked, but you find the 5% that were awesome. Downloadable character/weapon skin lists so long you could scroll through them for hours and hours. Privately owned servers for many games. Which allowed the server owners to dictate the gaming experience of their players. Which was ah-ma-zing for games like Neverwinter Nights.

My gaming experience in the last decade has been very limited due to how much it sucks. But the last console game I played which truly felt...like a console game...was Castle Crashers. Excluding Wii games, which are pretty cool. I'm specifically referring to Xbox and Playstation when I say it's ass.

On the bright side. The amount of indie games we have for PC is mind boggling. And I think that's definitely a very bright light in an otherwise dark market.

Another thing I miss is game demos. The last game demo I remember was Amnesia. Which had me buy the whole game. As usual, game reviews can't be trusted. They're biased or completely paid off. They always were. It is tough to know the worth of a game on launch day now. Since I'm not so avid about having games asap I always get them months later. Once the dust has settled. It seems to work out.
