Just saved $241/year on my software subscription with one call

Just to throw this out there.... I am a developer / designer by trade and a software junky by night :) GIMP is awesome as a free alternative to photoshop and there is another app in BETA at the moment which is free to download which is Affinity Photo. I use their vector app "affinity designer" and it is a pretty amazing application considering it is still very young. They are looking to produce a suite of apps to try and move people away from the the cloud and I have to say they are doing a pretty darn fantastic job of it as I have found their apps becoming more and more prominent in my workflow by the day. I think even on release "Affinity Photo" is only going to be around the 30 dollar mark (dont take my word for this but drsigner was realeased at £25 as I recall and was so worth the cash I can't tell you). So if you were looking for something a little more rounded than GIMP without breaking the bank I highly recomend them. I am sure they also offer a free trial on designer now also. The only thing I feel they are lacking from a proffessional standpoint is better colour management but they still have a more rounded solution than GIMP as this was something I always felt was lacking (but I haven't used GIMP for sometime so this may have improved). Anyway I have linked them below for you to take a look if you feel thr urge ! I have to say I am really torn between subscription software as I love the updates but get kind of narked with the outlay every month. When I actually added up their subscription model v's the buy a license model it actually works out cheaper for me as I would always upgrade the systems with the latest release and on average major uodates were 12 to 18 months. It used to cost a few thousand pounds to purchase a new license and restrictions on how many systems I could install too was tight as I work off 3 or 4 Macs. I don't actually like Adobe products as they feel incredibly sluggish against fresher apps closely integrated into OSX like sketch 3 and the affinity apps but the competition still got some ground to cover before I say adios to Adobe.
