Just started, any tips?

  • Try to soak as much exp as a team. This means each lane should have at least one hero. Ideal is that the supports are not alone since they are more effective with a partner (Tassadar could be an exeception. However, I never see this happen in my team.
  • Invisible heroes are detectable! Know when youre in danger. Or, know when you can nuke them down if your allies are close though. They will get visible when you hit them with AoE. Note, Lili has no ability to reveal them.
  • When your solo pushing and all enemies are missing, you better flee.
  • When all enemies are missing, pay attention to boss. Ideal is to ambush them, punish and steal the boss. However, when youre bossing, prepare for a clash when they get missing. Try not to engage when your team gets to much damage from boss. Sadly enough, I see people still trying to fight a boss while their team dies, ending up you giving away the boss while you 1vs5.
  • Lategame, you can get nuked in 1 second. Dont be solo yolo.
  • When you're trying capture jungle, they can be stolen (More enemies at the capture point or just you not being on the capture point at all). Don't jungle if you cant. You don't want them to snatched your jungle at cost of your fight.
  • Be flexible in builds. You might love trait x, but for example, when you face Jaina / Kael Thas, you might want spell shield.
  • Stick to your role, but don't overdo it. Sonya is for example classified as a warrior. But she is less tanky than some warriors while she can fight well in front row. People call them Bruisers. Other roles can fill other roles like Sgt Hammer can hit hard that they are sometimes build as antihero /assassin.
  • Also important, people will tell and yell to you to get their assassin / healer first. Take note its absolutely not worth it to dive and die while trying to poke their "priority target".
  • Just accept you will die eventually. Spend those time to check the enemies skills. Or when you can do without being dead, try to check them too. tab > show talents. You will discover certain weaknesses and strenghs in their build. Also, you might learn that hero x wants regen orb. You might make it harder for him to get it. Or they might need to kill a lot of lane creeps for damage. You can try to annoy him by forcing him out of lane as much as often.
  • Objectives are usually strong and a way to win. But they do not always result win. Sometimes its better to soak exp in begin. For example, the Ravenlord map needs a team to collect 3 tributes before its effect will work. You might want to "sacrefice" two tributes and catch up / get stronger before the "serious work" starts.
  • Die for the team and for a greater good is nice. But take note a death penalty (x seconds being unable to do nothing) is bad for your team, especially late game as one death can mean lose since the enemy can push till your base is gone.
  • Don't overextend. Sometimes you may get the kill, but other times you die. Other times you get one kill and lose 3 heroes. Also, you get slowed when you get hit by tower. That is kinda worse than the damage they do since the slow can mean the end of your life.
  • Stay friendly, I like friendly people. Report the bastards if you must.
  • Don't afk.
  • Cause its imporant and more fun: Stay friendly, yes its deja vu, but friendly games are more fun.
  • Those are my tips I actually rather not share, but are already known by the enemy when you play higher level gaming. Its kinda sad that my team rarely knows it.
