Just started med school. Seeing everyone with physician parents.

Not to mention that no one is impressed by physician parents anymore (and they shouldn’t be). But it’s gotten out a few times that my dad was a doctor and I got shit for it and people make a lot of assumptions about you that may or may not be true. In my case my family was still not wealthy due to a divorce and malpractice issues. Had to pay/work my way through college like everyone else. Never talked about medicine with my dad and he told me not to do it. So sure I’m at a certain advantage but it sucks being seen as the privileged kid who never had to work hard for anything when I feel like I’ve been grinding my whole life to be a better doc that my dad. As soon as a PD hears your parents were blue collar or couldn’t work or survived tragedies they get very interested in your story, however.
