Just tried it in my local Best-buy. Got stunned by its amazing “feels”, instant buy!

The $399 Oculus box (or $599 Vive box) come with everything needed to have a great VR experience. Later you might want to add on to them with a third sensor or something but that's completely non-essential.

Everything about setting it up is pretty straightforward. It's all explained on on-screen prompts that explain what to do one step at a time and make sure things are working correctly before going on to the next step. It takes about 20-30 minutes the first time.

Make sure you have a PC good enough to actually run the thing (you need pretty decent hardware). Here are the minimum specs required and here is a bit of software that will tell you if your computer is good enough.

If your computer doesn't meet the mark and you don't want to upgrade it or buy a new one, you might want to consider Playstation VR (assuming you have a Playstation). It's generally considered a bit worse of an experience but is by all means is still really cool.

The only other important thing is to make sure you have a decently large area (or can clear out a decently large area) around your computer so that you can move around and stuff without hitting walls. 5x5ft is a decent size, but the larger the better.

Hope this helps.
