To further comment because this is actually a healthy discussion...

I only have three comments actually. First, it's not exactly like racism, though I can see the similarities through your description. People don't chose to be black. People don't chose to be gay. People don't chose to be a woman. People don't chose to be short. And I personally believe you're a horrible scummy fucking person if you hate people for being born a certain way or for hating amputees or disabled folk.

People do chose to be fat though, over time through several repeated patterns of poor health choices despite having all of the knowledge at their fingers that will help prevent it or reverse it. They chose to be fat. Wether consciously or not. You don't just magically wake up fat one day. And people who are severely overweight or obese have purposefully ignored a lot of signs. So there is a significant difference. While externalities are common, the causes aren't related. And the hate for the 'dieting or exercising' fat. So this is big point of contention. Why did you let yourself get that big, knowing all of the danger it causes? I'm not a fan of this face of fph, as I said earlier. I think fat people who are actively pursuing health, real change, should be helped or ignored to make their attempt in peace. But I also don't think you should be that big to begin with, and if you are, you have already proven that you lack control and probably aren't concerned with health or effort, so I will approach you skeptically. And to be fair, a majority of the fat people featured in gyms are featured because they're faking the funk, at least as far as I can tell (but with no certainty). It's a once bitten, twice shy mentality that gets heavily magnified in fph because it is an echo chamber for frustration.

Two, of course fph is going to get to /all. Fat shorts the brain. There are studies that prove that visually overweight and obese people activate base animal repulsion in our primate brains. Fat people look inflamed and sickly and as a social animal, the inflamed and sickly are often ostracized in order to protect the general health of a group. Society asks us to fight that base instinct. It has done this so successfully, that we have gone from a society where 16% of people in the 1960s were obese to 36% today. But that repulsion is always going to be present, animal instinct and all. So when people see a fph post make it to all, it doesn't surprise me it gets a lot of support. There are a lot of closet shitlords who don't want to be outed or repulsed by society. But they're gonna upvote that shit.

Three, most people aren't on fph being all negative and pissy. And we certainly don't surround ourselves with that. There's generally a lot of really supportive comments towards each other. Shocking, right? Now, I'm not upset, negative, or foul 99% of the time. I just like to get a chuckle, see some stupid shit, then get off. It can be entertaining to commiserate with the others. I've been spending a lot time on reddit lately because frankly there isn't much to do besides workout and read while I wait to get out of here. My life outside of reddit is starkly different and I would say "surrounding" myself with it or negatively in general is the farthest thing from truth.
