I am 26 with a similar story.
I have about 70k in my 401k equivalent and 40k in the bank.
I started working at the age of 21 at an audit firm. I hated my life for the two years I was there. After I quit I realized that I needed another way to secure my retirement.
I vaguely remembered something about compounding interest from university which led me to FIRE.
My next job was at a bank. I stayed another two years.
Then I ended up hating my job again and quit but then I got laid off from my third company.
I was lucky and found another job in a big organization and I hope to stay for a while this time but who knows what will happen.
Accounting may have caused me a lot of misery over the years but at least I learnt about compounding interest lol.
