The difference is that Kiwi was never started as a slur.
While I couldn’t care less about the term, Jock definitely was started as a slur (centuries ago mind) like Chink or Paki.
The fact it’s moved to a mildly dismissive boomer term today is by the by.
There are plenty people who think it’s a totally harmless, affectionate term to say they’re getting a “Chinky”. My boomer parents say it. They genuinely don’t mean it as a slur and are perplexed when I say that it’s not a great look. Same as the kind of people that use the term Jock.
The only guy who regularly called me a Jock was an in-law who used to be in the army. I preferred Jock to “porridge wog” which he used just as much though to be fair.
