Justin Trudeau Signals Canada Could Freeze Saudi Arms Export Contract: Lawmakers question armored vehicle sales after Khashoggi death. Nations had been working to repair ties after diplomatic fued

Yes, Harper made a deal that Trudeau thought was fine and dandy. And while people clap him on the back for freezing the deal now, they fail to notice that his hands are precisely as tied now as they were then, when he said a "promise is a promise". So which way is it going to be? Is he going to get brownie points for taking this stand, or are we going to give him a pass for not taking a stand earlier - because these are mutually incompatible positions. One wonders why Trudeau didn't freeze the deal back then, when he said "a promise is a promise", and made it contingent on KSA say, not blowing up civilians in Yemen, or not financially supporting terrorist cells across the globe. The answer, of course, is that Trudeau is a self-serving political opportunist, who doesn't deserve a pat on the back for his grandstanding. This is no different than him promising to stand up for Indigenous Peoples and promising to protect the environment, then pushing new pipelines through Indigenous lands; no different than him promising electoral reform, and then saying that that promise was only important when Harper was in power. He's a two-faced little shit.
