It's not the news, but did anyone else get a HUGE JNMIL vibe from the Pixar short Bao? I mean, the whole story is about a mother who didn't want her son to do anything without her growing up, which is told by her reliving it via a anthropomorphic dumpling son. Then, when it gets to the point where he finds a wife of another race that she doesn't approve of and leaves home to start a new life, sheFREAKS OUT AND EATS HIM!!! She literally destroys him, and their relationship, rather than let her son grow up and move out and be happy in an adult relationship.

They try to reconcile the whole thing, by the son bringing her donuts and they both cry like the son had something to apologize for and then everyone just rug sweeps and pretends the mother isn't awful and controlling and racist.

The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth.
