Kamala Harris talked marijuana decriminalization with Seth Meyers in her first late-night TV interview since becoming VP: 'nobody should have to go to jail for smoking weed'

Pretty easy for her to say that given she’s not a prosecutor anymore. Maybe I’ll feel different when I’m actually convinced of their genuine willingness to make changes. So far it’s been a bunch of empty promises. They have the power to make cannabis federally legal and regulate interstate commerce. Instead they pardon all federal charges of simple possession.. which I’m sure you know, simple possession is not a federal crime unless you’re on federal property. The majority of people will see this and say “hey look, they’re doing something meaningful! They really care!” It’s disingenuous imo. I have a hard time believing someone who spent 30 years putting people in jail for drug possession, building her legacy on the back of that, could have a meaningful change of heart seemingly the moment she makes the jump from prosecutor to politician.
