Kanye West on Homophobia in 2005

Had a gay roommate. He was graduating. I came home one day, and he and a guy friend were snuggling up on the couch watching GoT. I think both of them were startled. They quickly pulled apart and sat on opposite sides of the couch, and at that point, all I could say was "it's okay." I went upstairs and listened to a front door being quietly shut, and maybe teared up a bit. Didn't see roommate for a few days, after.

Roommate was in a hurry. We were passing each other on the stairs, kinda quickly. We both worked. We were both busy. I figure it is time and say, "Really. It is okay. Please. IT IS OKAY." And roommate stops in his tracks -- his eyes widen up and he stammers "you were former military and so I just thought, we -- I know there are people who --" So I try to quickly explain I didn't feel that way. He nods and we part ways.

The next day, I come home. I see roommate is sitting with his guy friend on the couch and they are holding hands. And his guy friend says hello. I smile and sit down in a chair adjacent to the love seat, and we all watched GoT. They got closer as we watched, and I tell myself, I'll be damned to hell if I don't sit through this episode with them. So as it finishes I say I really liked spending time with them, and I go to bed.

Before roommate graduated and left, I seen more of roommate's guy friend come over, much more frequently. We had a class together and I'd make it a point to sit aside him. As we got to know each other, I'd say I was pretty blessed to have met him, because he had this knack for knowing precisely how to joke and be funny, yet non-interruptive in class. It didn't matter, but if anyone was going to date roommate, I approved.

Eventually, roommate moves out. He graduated, and I think they may have gone their separate ways. Not sure. But they were awesome and I miss them.

TL;DR I miss watching GoT with my gay friends. =\
