Kanye west is overrated

You know what my favorite Mozart track is? Serenade for Winds no. 10 in B Flat. I find the oboe painfully haunting. And, no, I don’t just dig it because it was in the Amadeus film; I love it because it’s exquisite. Every time I listen to “Gosh” by Jamie xx (https://youtu.be/hTGJfRPLe08: start at 2:50 and keep listening), I’m reminded of what Mozart proffered in his serenade. And when I listen to Kanye’s “Runaway”, regardless of the jejune chord progression, I’m equally struck — not just by a haunting austerity, but the searing elegance of the following lines:

Never was much of a romantic I could never take the intimacy And I know it did damage 'Cause the look in your eyes is killin' me I guessin' you're at an advantage 'Cause you could blame me for everything And I don't know where I'ma manage If one day you just up and leave

Those are exquisite lines. Fucking diamonds. Better yet ... flawless emeralds.

So, sorry if you’re such a pompous twat that you think some wagging some music theory means shit. You don’t get music like others do. You’re locked in some kind of sad teenage idealization of brand-name “classics”.

Now, listen to this with intent and get so deeply double-woke to the magic and mystery of music that you never trifle again: https://youtu.be/cfeVDzO-FqY
