Kathleen Peterson | Michael Peterson | The Staircase

A ton of people who I see comment on the case after only watching The Staircase believe the man is innocent of murder. Not even a quarter of the people seem to believe he is guilty because of how misleading the documentary is. The small percentage of people who believe he is guilty after watching the documentary are those that researched the case on their own afterwards.

"a ton of"... "not even a quarter"... "small percentage"... You say these things as if they are fact. Have you done studies on how many people think he is guilty? Are you really using random things people have said (on this sub, I assume) as "proof" of what percentage of people overall believe guilty vs. innocent?

There aren't many "more" misleading things, if there even are any, than creating a narrative that convinces people that a man guilty of murder is innocent.

I honestly don't even know what this is supposed to mean, exactly.

Are there documentaries that make normal people who watch it think the sky is green? That water isn't wet? I think not.

That goes a step further and just makes half of what you say sound a bit silly. Why would subject matter influence how "misleading" a documentary is or is not?

But more misleading docs? IDK. Any doc on 9/11 (going either way-- think about it. They exist from every angle, so yeah, it would be worse than one person killing one other person). Loose Change comes to mind.

I'd say Der Ewige Jude is CERTAINLY more misleading and worse than Staircase, if that's how you want to measure these things.

More misleading in general? Zetigeist. Nanook of the North.

I think your post is super interesting, and I love that you care so much, but these all or nothing statements hurt the validity of your argument.
