Kathleen Wynne today said she understands how high electricity prices are hurting us. And she wants to help.

I am going to sound like an idiot but why is it all Wynn's fault?

Because everyone wants a scapegoat.

Outside of the sale of Hydro One, Wynne hasn't actually touched the energy sector with any policy changes of significance. The OEB did raise rates during her tenure, but that is in response to things that have already been happening.

Someone already responded to your question about why is this Wynne's fault by referring to an initiative that started before she was even in office. Mind you she may have voted in favor of the Green Energy Act while she was an MPP, but so did a lot of other people.

People have short attention spans and they also tend to only pay attention to policy changes when it directly impacts them; or they tend to have a selective memory. I see a lot of the NDP MPP's and NDP supporters slamming the Green Energy Act these days.... which was voted in favor by the Liberals AND the NDP.

Even on the topic of the Hydro One Sale... Cons will slam Wynne for her judgement skills on that decision... yet it was CONS that first wanted to offload HONI years back when they held power in Ontario. Yet it is the MOF staff that really backed this project and ensured the gov't of the day got it done. Do you really think Wynne woke up one day and said to herself, 'I'm going to sell HONI to pay for a subway?!' That was the MOF that pushed for that.

I get the whole argument of this is all the Liberals doing, but keep in mind, some of these decisions are forced. It doesn't matter the gov't of the day. How many times have we seen someone run for a political position (doesn't matter the seat or which party they are) that took a hard line stance on a position, only to change their mind once they are in power. I honestly don't believe these people were purposely attempting to betray the public, they just got briefed by senior bureaucrats on the subject who basically told them we are already locked into this.

I don't support any political parties anymore... they are not as relevant as people think. I don't know the root problem and I don't know how to fix it, but I just know that the gov't of the day doesn't have as much power as we like to think they do.

Past decisions have led to the mess we are in today.... and all parties have shared accountability for that, but Wynne is an easy target.
