Is Katya really that "overrated"?!

Katya was really funny in the Meet the Queens clip, and compared to other queens she really stood out. As the season unfolded she seemed like an underdog... and we love those, don't we? She was easy to love, because she was never the best but always the funniest. However, when she pushed her story about overcoming addiction (especially the scene when she sought advice from Miss Fame) I felt she was overtly sharing her story to clutch for the win and in turn I felt her (or the producers) attempt to manipulate the viewers. At the same time her online enterprises 'Rugrets' and 'Ruflections' emerged, and while that built her a huge fan base, I concluded at the time that no queen would make parallel commentary to the series unless they failed to survive it (by this time I had seen Sasha Belle's Drunk Makeover).

Another thing about Katya that kept me distant was the Russian persona she auditioned with. I thought that she would be 'in character' the whole time but her gig in RPDRS7 seemed to be more like a dysfunctional Boston cross dresser recovering from addiction surprised that she was on TV. She seemed pretty disorganised in the show, and not very creative in the 'craft' of drag (dress making, fashion, hair & makeup).

Katya's most overrated moment IMO was the shark boot. How that won, I'll never know. I laughed when I saw it, but I think I kind of felt sorry for her at the time. When she won I figured that the producers were at large, and were building a series arc. It’s sad for Katya that the arc did not see her through to the end, but at the same time she seemed to be a messy queen, albeit loved by fans, but not worthy of any great accolades. After Pearl, Katya is definitely the most overrated contestant of RPDRS7.
