Kevin Durant on Kerr being sick of KD's tweeting: "I don’t see a problem with me interacting with basketball fans, it should be encouraged. He should’ve also said that I’m never late and I work through every rep in practice with game speed. That should be more interesting than what I do on Twitter"

Hey look we are in agreement that help is always warranted. Someone should say something.

At the end of the day though, this isn't ruining his life. He isn't getting suspended, he isn't losing sponsors. The consequences of his actions end with 50-100k RT's and a marginal increase in merch sales, that is the reality.

If you want to bridge the gap where it can lead to him suddenly going into no-man's land online and getting "canceled," then I'm sorry that is a huge reach. I would think the person who can't break tension and cannot embrace conversation with the online static is much more likely to snap than someone who is very clearly one of the more favorites on social media platforms.

Look, if he needs an outlet and he prefers this and it motivates him to do better? Then so what.

This is far from the situations we are comparing as "slipping away." This is a candid conversation where a concern was given and KD obviously has shown he can balance his work-life very well.

If it's costing him his happiness, like many addictions do, i'd say it's bad enough

Do we know it is costing him his happiness? This specifically? Because he has shown he enjoys online communities since OKC days.

I don't think his online "addiction" is what is weighing him down. It's the weight of his legacy expectations, the media, the window of his career, the GSW saga. He can completely drop social media, but those things he cannot escape until he's back on the court in playoffs again.

If anything social media is one of the best outlets he feels he can be heard straight from his mouth. It's no longer the media, it's him and other NBA fans.

The validation from "clap-backs", the feeling of being heard. At some level it probably helps more than it hurts.

This isn't the same as other online addictions. It doesn't affect his ability to perform at work, it doesn't ruin his life, it's just something he chooses to do, because he, frankly, fucking loves basketball and the discussion that surrounds it.

But you are right, that help is always warranted. Online addiction is truly a problem. But is it for KD?
