Kevin Feige requested for X-MEN: THE ANIMATED SERIES' theme to play during #MsMarvel's Mutant reveal, says the series' directors: "Kevin Feige has the master plan. He’s the only one who knows..."

I don't hate the show or anything. I just don't think it's the masterpiece that a lot of people claim it to be. Overall, it has a very superficial accuracy to the comics. It inherits a lot of their strengths, but it also inherits their weakness. To me, most of the episodes are just bland rehashes of the comics with little thought of what to change to better translate the material to television. I know that some of these limitations are due to budget restrictions, so I understand that for some of my issues with the show, there was nothing that could have been done.

  • The cast was too large to regularly give every character meaningful development, imo. Most of the characters were fairly one-dimensional for the most part, imo. Cyclops was mostly a lame boy scout. Jean was mostly a distressed damsel. Wolverine was mostly a shallow tough guy. Storm was almost purely made of dramatic declamations without much exploration of her identity outside goddess-hood. Jubilee was just a reskinned Kitty Pryde.

  • The cast was also extremely static. The X-Men is largely defined by its rotating roster of characters that come and go. There may have been budget issues that would have limited this, but I do wish we got more than just the exact same cast for all five seasons.

  • The animation was also subpar. I know the show is 30 years old, but I feel like it was already five years behind the curve when it first released. This is another thing that was limited by the budget, so I don't hold it against the show too much.

  • I think that the voice acting was fairly poor overall, but that's just a matter of personal taste, really.
