[Kicker] Bayern's €20m offer for Tariq Lamptey has been rejected, as Brighton demand a higher transfer fee.

Wait ... so you're saying when you go to buy a car, if you value the car at 10,000, and the seller values it at 15,000, you offer 12,000 at first? That's ridiculous. You can't pay what you think the value of the asset is if your first offer is more than what you value it at. How do you say "I'll give you 12" and then once they say "12 is not enough" say "okay I'll give you 10." That is laughable.

Also - Lamptey's 'value' on Transfermarkt is 7.2m. He was bought for 3m in January ... how does a guy's value increase from 3m to like 40m in 8 months when he's barely played during that time? I know Transfermarkt isn't the end-all, but Bayern offered 7x what Brighton paid in January and 2x his suggested value.

In reality, if Bayern value the player at 25m and Brighton value him at 30m, they offer 20 and have 5m to move before leaving negotiations.

It doesn't mean Brighton have to sell. Paying 25m for a backup RB is ridiculous in this climate. Maybe Brighton values him at 50m ... Bayern can't know that until they make their first offer.
