Kid refuse to learn swimming, should mom give up the lessons

We tried lessons at our local Y and it ended up not working out for several reasons 1) my kiddo being scared to go under the water and 2) she is easily distracted and there is always a lot going on at the pool during lessons 3) she was distracting other classmates. We dropped the class, though we paid for it, after a few lessons. We tried a local public pool and she was just too uncomfortable with the temp of the pool ... so we bailed on that as well though we paid for it. We finally found an indoor swim school with small class sizes and limited amount of classes allowed at the same time. It was a bit abrupt at first because the teachers are paid well by us... so they basically threw my kid in. Once she got through a few classes she got excited and excelled at swimming. Now she, 1 year later, is a top level swimmer. We did 6 months of small class size lessons and then, this summer, did a few weeks of lessons at the public pool to strengthen her freestyle swimming. It's amazing what a year brings. Sometimes it takes trying a few places to see what works because I view swimming as vital.
