Kidney failure cases rising at alarming pace in Singapore

Why and how are dialysis treatments a "national economic burden?"

The costs of dialysis are so exhorbitant, if are eligible for government subsidy, you probably can't afford it. Thus there is actually minimal cost to taxpayer.

Whereas, because of the huge fees, most who decide to go through with it, will inevitably have to liquidate their most prized assets to fund, ie their HDBs.

This, not only liberates the stagnant money that people just sit on for half their lives, fuelling the economy, it also drives supply of HDB resale, pushing down HDB prices. I'm sure many here would be happy to hear.

Sure it breaks the bank for many, but "national economic burden" appears to be untrue.
