To answer your question about the D-Pad, I find that the d-pad and A/B buttons from Handheld Legend to be much better than retromodding. I did a build with both sets from each vendor, and found that the HHL ones to be closer to OEM buttons. The D-Pad feels tighter and it sits a bit higher than the one from RM. Definitely check it out and let me know what you think if you decide to order them :)

Also - this GBC was built using mostly spare parts. So if I were to do one today, I would consider the Freckleshack LCD from Bennvenn or the McWill LCD.
