KKK - Katrina Kaif Kaushal

Belonging to a bloodline of women who didn't change their surnames and stuck to their maiden name all their life. Knowing I would do the same; I don't agree to this.

Maybe if I like a surname or it holds weightage to my current name, I'll unofficially add it. But will I "let go" of my maiden name because I'm "supposed to". Nope. Because I know for a fact, atleast in my community, along with being a legal hassle it is, it's not really a good thing to do in the long run. And a hassle to change back.

Also, "letting go" of my surname means letting go of my identity, privilege and my birthright which I obviously would not do for any guy. If you're surname can get me even a quarter of the respect, weightage or protection my current name gets me... Not even then. Never.

And honestly, if the men in both sides of my family respected the women's decision to stick to their maiden name, have their own life and live life on their own terms... And if I watched my parents have a healthy, lasting and successful marriage without any patriarchal norms... Give me a good reason I should fold. There's none I would accept.
