Knowing the war was lost in 1945, rather than surrender to the allies, many German people killed themselves. In one town alone, Demmin, over 1000 people killed themselves in 72 hours.

None of what you said is incorrect. People are questioning him because he replied to a comment discussing Eastern Europeans being afraid of Nazis with ‘well actually they weren’t and Nazis were disciplined.’

We both know that’s not true. Yes, many Eastern Europeans INITIALLY saw the Nazis as liberators from Stalin’s tyrannical rule. However, as you pointed out, this was almost immediately overturned due to their ruthless racial policy. His comment makes it seem like that is not the case and the Wehrmacht was a nice, clean fighting force

I have read tons of books on the Eastern Front. Like many people, my favorite is ‘When Titans Clashed’ by Glantz and House. I also just read ‘Stalingrad - The City that Defeated Hitler’, which had amazing testimony and interviews with all involved in the battle. Feel free to PM me for the rest of the list.
