Koh Tao deaths: Phuket hotel owner and wife drown in pool

I was raped in Koh Tao in 2012 when I was 22. I was talking to a random local who had a limp after leaving a bar about 1am. I wasn't drunk at all. He had a scooter and offered me a lift to my hostel, which wasn't even far away. I wish I hadn't accepted the offer. I got on the back of the scooter and he drove past my hostel and kept going until we arrived at a secluded beach. I was vocal initially about him stopping at my hostel but was absolutely terrified when he kept driving into the darkness out of the town and I simply froze. My gut told me that if I tried to resist it wouldn't end well. He drove me back to my hostel after. I woke up other backpackers in my dorm and told them but no one really knew what to say and I was so shocked and ashamed that I had gotten on the scooter/thought this man could do me no harm. I was at the start of my backpacking trip so buried it mentally but I feel sick when I think about these other cases. Seeing how other rape victims were treated I don't think it would have made any difference if I had gone to the police anyway.
