KPU Board Elections on until 4:00pm Today!

Running in the election, but hoping that if you are attending KPU, you will take part in the election and vote. Below are my and the other candidate statements - the election ends in under 5 hours at 4 pm.

Candidate - Ishant Goyal: I would like to run for the position of Board of Governor student position at KPU. I was also elected previously as Education Council representative where I served as the voting member for one year and I have also contributed to the community with over 500+ volunteer hours. I would like to address several topics when elected that would bring benefits to student body. Firstly, as a voting member I would like to address the issue of very few financial resources available to students, I will present the proposal on the table on how to bring more financial resources especially for international students who pay about 4 times the fees of domestic students. If elected I would also like to refer students to my personal email where students can send their questions, suggestions, feedback and ask for appropriate resources to seek help.

Candidate - Harman Preet Singh: It is my extreme pleasure to put forward my election nomination interest for the office of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Board of Governors. It is of my foremost interest to advocate KPU students to design, develop and implement student policies at our university that serve the best needs of students' learning and life in general. There are many issues I would like to address at the office which are as follows:● Addressing Covid-19 challenges.● Re-inventing tution fees structure for domestic students.● Providing better career prospects and business network channels to students.● Enhancing in-class learning and activities.● Tackling High International student tuition fees. Please consider this letter as my Candidate statement for KPU Board Of Governors Spring 2022 Election.

Candidate- Rob Mumford: 24/7 Library Access for Students at both the Surrey and Richmond campuses -if elected, this will be my singular purpose on the board. Back in 2019, I pushed to make this a reality, but my plans got shelved due to the pandemic, and with your support, I want to try one last time. These extended hours would be complemented with significant student safety upgrades to all campuses, including, but not limited to women's only parking, improved lighting, additional security guards, and emergency phones located in all parking lots. Together, this will mean that if you need a quiet place to study alone or with peers, it will be available to you at all hours here at KPU. These improvements are estimated to cost $1.50 to $2.50 per credit but will still require your approval by referendum at a later date.
