Kurt Vile jamming onstage with Ariel Pink at desert daze festival!

No, I wasn't aware of those posts. It looks like from this girl's story ariel made out with some of the audience members kinda unexpectedly. Sure, its not the most normal concert experience, but I think he does risky crazy stuff like that with a playful lighthearted spirit, at the height of performing his songs, when he's in a heightened emotional state. He probably didn't even plan to do anything like that, it just happened spur of the moment. It's like its his own weird way of expressing his love for his audience. I don't know if ariel knows the proper codes of "normal and professional" behavior, he's just a different and unique kind of person who has been just been deep into making personal art his whole life. But his heart is in the right place, I've met him before and he is a genuinely good person with lots of love, and a fun and musical spirit. Back in those days he was just coming to terms with "blowing up" in the indie world, touring, etc. He was probably on an emotional roller-coaster at the time. I know he had some sort of meltdown around this time period. I think his sister was actually permanently paralyzed in a car crash. What ariel does is out of love for music and fans and not a predatory/taking advantage of somebody kind of thing in any way. I think he's just trying to break down peoples self imposed boundaries, and this kind of thing is probably normal around him and his friend circle. It might make some uncomfortable, but people who are not full of hate and insecurity realize i'ts just his own wacky unorthodox expression of love. I mean, here's a video of what happened (or maybe a similar type thing). The audience is all visible just cracking up and smiling, they're all just having a good time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=regt_xy8N-M&feature=youtu.be This video's been out for over 4 years, and its almost all upvoted. Nobody thought anything of it then. Ariel's just a unique and very talented artist, and we're lucky to have him. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would abuse his "indie star status" in order to take advantage of people. He's more of a deep person than that. His music is really profound and moving if you give it a chance. He has a good spirit, I really believe that. Its just sad to see so many people delight in trying to bring about somebody's downfall. It will be a sad day when we can't hear new AP music and his label drops him because he had a novel experience and made out with some people at one of his shows once. I'm just sick of the increasing amount of negativity in the public's consciousness. There are no accounts of him actually abusing somebody. It seems like everybody just wants someone to hate. Ariel's not a bad person, he's one of the best we have, honestly. Now people are going to make him out to be some sort of sexual predator so they can point and laugh at another person. And then they hold themselves on some high and mighty moral plane like THEY are great amazing respectful people. So many people can only feel good about themselves if they have someone to hate. We need a lot more genuine love in our society, cause so many people are literally drenched in hate. I think ariel is about as real and genuine as it gets. And yes sometimes people make mistakes. But he didn't abuse anyone. I've been unexpectedly kissed (tounge and all) at parties before, by people i didn't even know, and i just laughed it off. I don't feel victimized in any way. I'm not interested in condemning people, or really any form of negativity at all for that matter, there's too much of it, its consuming the public consciousness. And I'm not dismissing the issue of sexual abuse, it is a real issue, and we all need to learn how to respect each other. Ariel just isn't that kind of creep guy that people like to imagine. He's a fun loving free-spirited incredible artist that brings inspiration and positivity into many peoples lives. He's brought a lot of positivity into mine. Its his spirit that counts.
