I don't remember which civil rights activists said it, but during the anti slavery movement in early American history, women were also fighting for suffrage. This activist, who I can't for the life of me remember (Frederick Douglass maybe?), said women should wait for their time to come, because a society can only handle so much change at once. And at first glance, this quote might sound misogynistic, but I think he has a great point. Black people are fighting for equality and freedom right now, and if we as a society try to tackle too much at once, the movement will get watered down or piss people off with too much change at once. Anti-Semitism is a huge problem that's still sadly prevalent in our society, but I don't think it'll be seriously tackled until things like police brutality and income inequality are addressed. As much as it sucks to say, I think Jewish people are gonna have to wait their turn much the way women did.
