Seriously. I was in prison for a year (charges were eventually dropped) and all I can say is... no person should think that given current prison conditions, inmates have any reasonable chance at bettering themselves after serving time. Prison teaches you almost nothing but how to survive, and not in many ways that can apply to a straight edge lifestyle after getting out. Sure there are ways to better yourself but it's very difficult to do so while balancing out all the other shit you have to endure.
I'm so glad this is happening to the juvenile justice system though at least, because this will have an impact on reducing the amount of kids who end up in prison because they weren't able to find a better path.
