Lab horror story, blast from the past

Maybe... That’s why it takes a lot of bravery to report things like this.

I felt I had too much to lose - I always have wanted to use my career to progress science and I saw filing a report on this as being very detrimental to that aim. That advisor, terrible as he was, did write me rec letters that got me a good job that I am in right now - and a couple grants as well that currently fund my research. If I had reported him, that could not have happened. That was mutiple years of my life and lots of effort that went ito my time in grad school and cutting off contact with the big-name guy who can get me jobs and grants - just did not seem worth it to file a report that seemed likely to amount to a fart in the wind.
