LABIOTTE Mini Haul - Face & Body Products!

Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tint * RD02 Nebbiolo Red: I wanted something kind of red but leaning more fuchsia and this color seemed to fit the bill. This product has already showed up in this sub a few times, however I’ll give my own impression of the product and outline my experience. I don’t wear a lot of makeup generally so lip tints are totally up my alley for an elevated no-makeup kind of look that I like. I haven’t tried many, but I had high hopes for this one. My initial impression after opening it for the first time is that the pigmentation was pretty strong, it stayed behind on the back of my hand even after I tried using the LABIOTTE Marryeco cleansing serum on it. The scent is also very, very pleasant; don’t expect smelling a cabernet or shiraz, this smells more like a muscat. It’s fruity and sweet but not cloyingly so. Using my finger, I tapped the tint onto my lips and while it stuck like glue to the center of my lips, the outer area of my lips was hard to stain for some reason. I think part of it is that the outer area of my lips are darker and so pigment doesn’t show up the same way as it does in the center. The other thing I noticed was that my lips felt weird, almost like they were numb. I’m not sure if it was because I was tapping the fuck out of my lips to get the pigment in, or if it’s an ingredient in the tint itself. Either way, I won’t be using this again. I am sure if you have lighter pink lips, this is a great product, but my lips are a deep/darker shade of pink and so the shade didn’t show up on my lips the way I was expecting. The takeaway from my experience is that if you’re looking for a deeply pigmented tint, this is your girl. She didn’t last long, eating and drinking at lunch pretty much did away with the tint, but most tints won’t stay on through a meal at 100%. I think based on the pigmentation and the packaging alone, this is a fun purchase if you like lip tints, and the shade range is quite nice as it covers everything from red, to pink, to coral. I really think there’s something for everyone in their line of lip tints.

Overall Impressions

LABIOTTE is Tonymoly’s brainchild, and what is I assume, their attempt to crack a slightly older demographic with more money to spend. All of the marketing and packaging suggest that this line is aimed at a person who cares about the ingredients that go onto their skin, but they’re priced in a mid-range market, similar to primera. LABIOTTE makes a pretty big point of selling itself as science-y ~natural~ skincare, and to that end I can’t say because I got a liberal arts degree, but at the very least, the products I tried were all worth a look depending on your skin type. All the products have a listing of “Plus Good Elements” and “Minus Bad Elements” on the packaging that basically gives a quick rundown of the helpful ingredients (plant extracts mostly) and the absence of the things that a lot of consumers are trying to avoid, like sulfates, parabens, etc.

I wasn’t crazy about the Chougarden line, and if you lived in Korea or had access to buying it locally, it would be worth it if you liked the scent. Neither product was amazing though so I think they can be skipped. The Marryeco cleansing serum isn’t that great, so I’d skip it. The Marryeco cleansing foam however, wasn’t particularly drying or harsh so if you use a pH-balancing toner, it’s worth a try. Although the Eternal Ever line didn’t work out for my skin type, I would try a different lineup in LABIOTTE’s skincare product range. While the lip tint isn't for me, they recently came out with a matching lipstick in their wine series and based on the pigmentation in the lip tint, the lipsticks are probably worth a try too. The masks were great, but I hesitate to recommend them because of some of the ingredients (namely butylene glycol) may bother some of you with sensitive skin. I personally would order them again, but they have quite a few (all at different price points) so I’d like to try another mask line next time and revisit the Freniq series again later.

After putting this post together, I really have to commend some of our regular bloggers in this community; it is a lot of work and they do it on a weekly basis. The idea of having to do new posts, with new content, especially with new proucts – that’s a fuckton of work y’all.

A note about the squalene in some of these products: the Korean hangul translated to a vegetable-based squalene but feel free to do some digging on your own.
