Labor says it will force companies with more than 1,000 employees to publicly reveal pay gap

Women still earn a lot less over the span of their lives. It's leaving a lot of single, older women who have spent their lives caring for children and older family members vulnerable. You can argue choice, which in my case it is. I work further from home so working less means i can be with my family, but some women face immense pressure to be the available care giver and low-paying jobs tend to be more flexible, in spite of their demand for qualification and accountability, such as female-dominated trades, child care, disability and aged care. There is no justification for these roles to be low-paying. I can't count the amount of times I've been on my own on a night shift with 30 wandering dementia residents, some of which are violent and getting paid less than a fork lift driver.
