Ladies who haven't been for your smear test, why?

Don’t read below if you’re not wanting to do it. My experience is not most people’s experience.

Traumatic, painful, violating, humiliating. Had my first one in a few years today and I’ve been in bits since. It’s not pleasant for some, but if you’ve been a victim of rape it can be traumatic. It was for me and it took me right back to that place. I had the wrong size speculum inserted today (without lube) and then another smaller one (also without lube) and I was in so much pain. I have a boyfriend and I’m nearly 30 so I don’t know why it’s so painful for me. After all this the nurse said she didn’t want to hurt me so she’s going to stop and she probably didn’t get enough cells but fingers crossed. Awesome. If you look at my post history I go into more detail. But yeah. Horrible.

I get the results in two weeks. Keeping everything crossed I actually have a result (good results) and don’t have to go back in again for a second horrorshow. Next time I’m taking my mum and begging the doc for some kind of benzo.

Other more popular reasons from a lot of my friends: Outie large labia shame thanks to porn and shitty memes, body hate, people feeling dismissed and fear of loss of dignity.
