But, I think a lot of parents who refuse to spank their children are not backing it up with choices for their ill behavior. They just let it go, and let the child win, which manifests itself into the video we just watched.

Every single time as my sons were growing up, and they crossed a line that they knew would result in punishment, we had a talk. A hearing, if you will. I would listen to their side and reasoning, and counter with my own. Then I gave them the choice of punishment.

They had to dig 10 fence post holes, or three licks. As lazy as they were, every single time they chose the latter. They wouldn't walk straight for the rest of the night, but they feared that less than digging fence post holes...
