I want to be ladylike, but instead, I feel childish.

I think you should watch "Jumanji" and listen to the advice Jack Black gives.

He says that you have to "own" being a beautiful woman. And "sparkle". haha. That might sound vague but I think it means to radiate joy.

When we're young we think if we can just get that new toy for Christmas THEN we'll be happy. But as we get older we find that we have to just decide to be happy and joyful sometimes, and not wait for circumstances to be perfect before we consent to sparkle or glow a little bit.

Attractive women are women who glow. Trying to become invulnerable I think might be the wrong approach. Maybe you could try making an extra effort to treat other people with kindness and see what happens to your social life. Dale Carnegie's book about making friends might be good too.
