lana's new IGTV video in response to the negativity she's received

I agree that her commentary has been rather tone deaf. I do not believe Lana is a racist person, but I do believe that her comments reveal an implicit bias. It may not be her intention to offend anyone, but there is no denying that her comments, specifically on her album announcement Instagram post, were problematic.

While I took issue with the Instagram comments, I actually had no problem with her Annie Mac interview. I understood what she was trying to convey about the Trump era of American politics. Prior to Trump becoming President, those who were not directly affected by discriminatory practices just sat back and said nothing.

Now that Trump has caused an enormous amount of chaos, all of the underlying systematic issues that have been plaguing our country for decades have come to light and everyone has been forced to confront them. I agreed with Lana when she said that this was a necessary measure. I'm disappointed that it had to be done this way, but I'm glad we are finally addressing the corruption and injustice in our nation.

As for the IGTV, I can't say I blame her. I desperately wish she had a publicist or just someone to sit her down and tell her why people took offense to what she said and coach her on how to address it. I wish people would explain her implicit bias to her, rather than just dismiss her as a racist.

All of this being said, I'm genuinely concerned for her mental health at this point. A person can only take so much, and she is getting dragged through the mud because people would rather cancel her than have an actual discussion about the issues at hand.

I would be totally fine with her taking a year off social media to just collect herself and reflect on everything that has happened because nothing good is going to come from the Twitter fights.
