There are definitely impacts from climate change and it's been a brutal year for Australia and the forest fires were extensive but they make up a few hundred pixels in that image. ~71,000sqkm throughout the entire country... NSW makes up the bulk of that image, which is 809,444sqkm. A lot of what burned wasn't forest either, it was grassland which burns fast and large but grows back very quickly once it rains.
