Land of the free

I know what it's for because it happened to my uncle. He bought a small ranch that he wanted to move into when he was too old for his two story. Smallish Midwest town. Basically a cliche for middle America.

He proceeded to rent it before he moved in. His first renters were Indian I guess. After their lease was up the whole kitchen stank irreparably from the food they cooked. Yellow stains on the ceiling. Maybe the living room too, I'm not sure.

So I'm pretty sure he had to repaint everything including cabinets and stuff. Cost way more than the deposit. I'm not sure if there was carpet replacement or what the total costs were.

Basically whoever put this in the rental agreement, just wantS an excuse to deny renters who cook curry every day.

Is this right or wrong? I do not know. Is someone with a curry diet always going to ruin the homes interior? I'm not sure. I'm just giving an explanation from an anecdote I heard first hand.
