Landlord asks for $800 rent increase

There are daily posts on this subject if you look. All say same thing, there is a cap, etc, don't pay, tell them about the law. It works for a while of course, until landlords renovict.

For years, the BC gov have capped the amount landlords can increase rents by at a low low 2%, 2.5%, etc. Which obviously doesn't match the rent advertised on the same unit next door today.

Blame the local government / politicians, its an easy "look what we did for you, we capped rent", whilst in reality it's pandering and eventually landlords will evict and re-list somehow.

Also whilst inflation is way higher, they increase property taxes way way higher,.... it's just not realistic and we are all sool
