Landlord not paying bills

They can’t raise your rent that much in California. Gov Newsom passed multiple new laws effective the first of this year limiting how much a landlord can raise the rent of different dwellings.

I was in property management. I was required by law to send all 400 of my companies tenants a physical copy of the new laws.

I quit that job a few months ago so I’m having a hard time remembering how much they can legally raise the rent... but I know for tenants who paid around $800 ish rent the most we could raise the rent was $35.

You’re getting fucked and legally they can’t do that. If you took them to court you’d win, and they would owe you your money back. You need to speak to someone who is more versed than I am but legally they can’t pull that shit. At all.

You should do your own research and then get your shit together and start asking your landlord questions. They can’t kick you out for no reason either like they used to be able to. They have to give you a reason why, and if they don’t have a legit reason they can’t and you could take them to court.

You don’t know it yet but your landlord is in the palm of your hand. They are assfucking you but you have the power here to turn it around.
