languages I've known and loved, the language graveyard: share the languages you've quit (and why?)

Italian and a break up. It was too tough to separate the language with the girl, her being my only speaking partner for the whole time I was dabbling in it. I also started learning it mostly for her so when the tangible benefits of speaking to her family and possibly having bilingual kids etc. fell through, I gave up on it. Italian is not a particularly useful language elsewhere and I never got very advanced to the point of having a break through with it, so in the years since I've forgotten most of it. Still, I found learning the native language of an SO to be an awesome motivator and I'd definitely keep the option on the table if I dated another non-native English speaker.
