My PI for my MA (and the PhD I dropped out of) was an unreasonable abusive maniac, but she was an unreasonable abusive maniac with tenure and also the only person in the department who specialized in the area I was working on. So my options were 1. suck it up and deal with her shit; 2. trash all the research I'd done so far and start over with another prof in another area, alienating my PI and who knows who else in the process; or 3. quit academia.

I finished my MA and quit academia after my PI forced me to quit a research position because I was having mental health issues brought on by the shockingly horrible working conditions. GOOD TIMES.
