At last, Leonardo DiCaprio accepts his first Academy Award.

I grew up amongst a populace that believes climate change isn't real. The day someone can figure out this phenomenon, and how to control it, will be a very scary day. The truth is, they don't know why they deny it. They just do. I feel like I have good, informed reasons on why I believe in the things that I do. Sure, there is a HUGE population of bandwagon Bernie Sander supporters that don't know why they are supporting him. It's how Obama was elected. Bandwagon supporters that were none the wiser elected Obama, and I'm glad for it. But it would be better if they knew why they supported him, rather than it being a cool thing to do. I hope there is enough bandwagon support for Bernie to win. But the people that develop this ignorance, well, it can't be explained. It truly is a phenomenon. My parents are smart, educated people, but won't read enough information on why climate change is real. No amount of proof would convince them that they would be better off with Bernie's healthcare plans. Me, personally, I don't care if "lazy people get everything for free". If I'm getting that same "free" stuff, then I couldn't care less. Let them. But there is an entire group of people that are so concerned about these people, that they can't see anything else in front of them. It really is remarkable.

Spend less on war.

Spend more on education.

Spend more on STEM.

Invest in our people.

College serves ONE purpose. That purpose is to give an 18 year old something to do for a few years to wise up and become more mature. Unless you're learning a very specialized field such as law, medicine, nursing, or a trade such as plumbing or carpentry, then all school is doing is giving you something to do on your way to becoming more mature. An 18 year old might legally be an adult, but they mostly not capable in this society to be what they need to be yet. There is nothing about what I do now that my degree which I received at age 29 taught me to do. My self-employment endeavors from age 19 to about 26 gave me a good ole' Bachelor's degree education from the school of hard knocks. Then I got a real education only because my plan B job requires one. Nothing about that education has done anything to make me better at my job. It just satisfied some archaic and arbitrary requirement so that I could apply and get the job. I am choosing higher education now, because I would like to be an attorney. That might be years from now. It bugs me that it costs so much for a law degree, but C'est la vie.

My nephew is going to graduate high school in about 5 years with the same (or better) IT knowledge that people with whom I graduated paid $30,000 to $40,000 in tuition to be taught at technical colleges nearby, and are still paying on those loans nearly 15 years later. People my age and people within about 5 years of it on both sides really got the short end of the stick when it comes to the time to be alive. I'm embracing it. It's fine.

I don't feel like ranting anymore.
